Q: Who can submit a story?
A: Anyone who lives in or is associated with the Lake Houston area. There is no limit to how many stories you can submit. We publish stories shared by our local college students, families, clubs, and organizations- and so many others.
Q: Where do I submit my story?
A: In the form on the Submit your Story page, located in the tool bar above. Simply type or copy/ paste your story into the text box and upload any photos into the allotted spaces at the bottom of the form.
Q: When should I submit my story?
A: A story must be submitted by the 15th day of the month to be selected for the next/ upcoming issue.
Q: What kind of story should I share?
A: Anything you want! Contributors may tell any story that they want to share with our Lake Houston readers. There is a list of suggestions near the bottom of the Home Page.
Q: How long should my story be?
A: At least a few sentences, but no more than 3-4 paragraphs. We have room in the magazine for various lengths/ sizes of stories. The number of photos included will also affect the length/ size of your story.
Q: Will my story or photos be changed, edited, or modified?
A: Generally, no. The only thing that will be changed is the formatting of the text (size, font, etc.). Our team does not edit your photos or story- these will be printed exactly as they are submitted. Content and photos should be appropriate and clearly visible.
Q: How long should my story be?
A: Anyone who visits the UNITE Lake Houston website. This is a public platform.
Q: How does UNITE choose the stories for the upcoming issue?
A: Our team selects 10-15 new stories each month on a first come/ first serve basis. Submissions that include clear photos will be given priority in the selection process.
Q: I’m a Lake Houston area business owner- can I submit a story about my business?
A: Absolutely! Business owners who advertise with UNITE have the added benefit of submitting stories to be placed with their ads. There is more information for business owners on the Advertise with UNITE page.
Q: Will someone contact me if my story is selected for publishing?
A: Yes, a notification will be sent to the email address associated with your account.
